ABOUT OUNJE IBILE MART
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced retail and wholesale professional to join Ounje Ibile Mart at a pivotal stage of our growth. As Retail and Wholesale Manager, you will take ownership of our day-to-day retail and wholesale operations, playing a central role in driving commercial performance, managing supplier relationships, and supporting our expansion into new locations across the UK.
You will report directly to the Board of Directors, and work closely with operational colleagues to deliver a consistently high standard of customer experience and product availability.
ABOUT THE ROLE

As Retail and Wholesale Manager, you will take ownership of our day-to-day retail and wholesale operations, playing a central role in driving commercial performance, managing supplier relationships, and supporting our expansion into new locations across the UK. You will report directly to the Board of Directors, and work closely with operational colleagues to deliver a consistently high standard of customer experience and product availability
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of Ounje Ibile Mart.
- Ensuring high standards across retail and wholesale activities.
- Manage inventory levels and stock forecasting to maintain product availability and minimise wastage.
- Coordinate the sourcing and procurement of products from approved suppliers, ensuring quality, compliance and value for money.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and wholesale customers.
- Monitor product availability and analyse sales performance data for important and commercial decisions.
- Ensure compliance with UK food safety, labelling, and trading standards requirements at all times.
- Support business growth through operational planning and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the company's expansion strategy by supporting the rollout of new store locations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and wholesale customers.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in retail, wholesale, supply chain, logistics, food distribution, or business operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing inventory, stock control, and procurement activities.
- Ability to analyse sales trends, stock levels, and operational performance to support business decision-making.
- Experience working with suppliers and managing customer accounts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and confident using digital business systems.
- Experience coordinating supplier relationships and maintaining strong business partnerships.
DESIRABLE
- Experience within the food retail or fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with African and Caribbean food products, culture, or the specialist ethnic grocery market.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field — or substantial relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
